'We are currently looking for a Penguin Keeper with a passion for positive animal welfare and husbandry to join our fantastic team at SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton’s Auckland. The role will be a part time position, one day a week on Sundays.

About the Role

As a Penguin Keeper you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day care and management of our Gentoo and King Penguins, their exhibit and life support system.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Providing a suitable environment for our penguins which offers excellent welfare.
• Meeting all husbandry requirements of the penguins including cleaning, animal training, enrichment, dietary, veterinary and breeding requirements.
• Observation and maintaining a high standard of record keeping.
• Conducting feeding presentations and educational talks to visitors as required.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment. 

About You

The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about and have an understanding of animals and will display commitment, loyalty and a strong work ethic. Animal husbandry experience/ knowledge is essential, in addition to physical fitness as some heavy lifting will be involved. You will be working within a small team environment so excellent interpersonal skills, open-mindedness and a willingness to accept new ideas and perspectives is necessary.
