Looking for a H&S role with a difference? 

 

We are seeking a full time permanent Regional Health, Safety & Security Manager supporting our attractions across the Australia & New Zealand region, including SEA LIFE, Madame Tussauds, Sydney Tower Eye and more! 

 

About the Role

 

• Drives the HSS strategy for the Gateway ANZ operating group and sets the agenda/framework for continuous improvement.
• Develops and maintains an effective HSS risk assessment strategy/culture and via an auditing programme ensures that all risks are sufficiently identified and controlled.
• Responsible for the development and drafting of new Gateway ANZ standards, processes and procedures.
• Support incident investigation, propose and implement means of preventing a reoccurrence.
• Responsible for undertaking cost/benefit and gap analyses as an integral element to the development and approval of new Gateway ANZ or Group HSS standards and policies.
• Undertakes impact assessments for new HSS legislation and industry Codes of Practice / Standards where they could impact Gateway ANZ.
• In conjunction with other Group HSS team members, helps to ensure that Gateway ANZ management fully understands the relevant components of such new HSS legislation and industry Codes of Practice / Standards.
• Supports the industry’s formulation of new HSS Codes of Practice
• Ensure the effective management of fire and food risks in conjunction with other members of the wider HSS team.
• Identify and drive safety initiatives/standards which support business expansion, acquisition and mobilisation.
• To robustly oversee the suitable and sufficient design, procurement, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of new rides or attraction features in Gateway or New Openings (Gateway).
• Drive the focus on culture change in Gateway and New Openings (Gateway) through the ‘Protecting the Magic’ campaign and initiatives which reinforce the Group’s HSS vision, strategy and culture.
• Developing, leading and motivating an enthusiastic, competent HSS team in Gateway ANZ which is committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Including working closely with colleagues in other Operating Groups or Business Units.

Qualifications & Experience

A passion for tourism is essential for any of our roles, but you will also need...

 

• A proven track record of leading an innovative and highly skilled HSS team within ANZ.
• Experience and knowledge of best-in-class HSS practices and systems.
• Excellent in influencing and relationship management.
• Experience of working in high risk industries.
• Strong ability to measure performance by developing, coaching and supporting a HSS team.
• Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity.
• Strong project & change management skills – able to implement changes which add value and benefit to Gateway.
• Business and commercial awareness – able to suggest and recommend alternative ways of operating which enhances Gateway or New Openings (Gateway).
• Creative, keen to trial new concepts to put/keep Gateway or New Openings (Gateway) at the forefront of HSS.
• Process and detail orientated.
• Determination to help deliver a first class HSS function.
• Ability to demonstrate problem solving and being solution focussed.
• Ability to reliably provide relevant advice on risk mitigation measures to minimize Merlin’s exposure to HSS incident liability.
