We have an amazing opportunity to join our team at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILDLIFE Sydney Zoo as a Veterinarian, on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

 

About the Role

  

Veterinarians play a critical role in delivering world-class animal health care across the zoo and aquarium collections. This position ensures all animals receive best-practice veterinary care, supports preventative medicine programs, participates in case management, contributes to welfare assessments, and provides expert guidance to animal care teams. The veterinarian upholds organisational animal welfare standards, contributes to staff training, and fosters collaboration with external veterinary professionals, regulatory bodies, and zoological partners.

 

This role will provide a range of animal health services to the Curatorial Departments of SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILDLIFE Sydney Zoo with the aim of achieving and maintaining best practice industry standards.

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for guest experience with a focus

on fun. You will also need to meet the following selection criteria:

 

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine and registration with relevant national veterinary board
  • Minimum 3–5 years clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a zoo, aquarium, wildlife, or exotic animal setting
  • Experience with diagnostic imaging, laboratory analysis, anaesthesia, and surgical procedures for diverse taxa
  • Strong understanding of biosecurity, quarantine legislation, and wildlife disease management
  • Experience with ZIMS or equivalent electronic medical record systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-pressure, dynamic animal care environments
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
     

Desirable:

  • Current First Aid / CPR
  • Tertiary qualifications in animal care
  • Full NSW Driver’s License
